Young woman urges sceptics to sample alternative
therapy
(Press article, early 2008)
A young Fife woman, who used to dismiss alternative
therapy as ‘hullabaloo’, is urging others to give
it a go after putting her life back on track.
St Andrews waitress Claire Leslie (23) was diagnosed with reactive
arthritis in October after suffering months of severe joint pain
and extreme swelling.
Claire, who, at one stage, was wheelchair-bound and barely able
to walk, was prescribed a number of conventional medicines including
steroid injections and anti-inflammatory drugs until it emerged
that she was highly allergic to her treatments.
Feeling thoroughly despondent and resigned to a life of pain
and reliance on others, Claire, who lives in Newport, contacted
a local bio-energy therapist who unblocks people’s energy
fields, allowing their body to do the rest.
“My Gran had seen a therapist giving a talk and demonstration
in her local village hall and, seeing that he worked on people’s
knees, she thought it was worth a go.
“By that point, anything was worth a go. I was in real
pain, mainly in my knees but then into my ankle and hip, and could
hardly walk or drive. As well as the pain, it was emotionally
wearing and I hated having to rely on everyone else to do things
for me at such a young age. The medical profession was also unable
to reassure me about the future and how long it would take to
get better which didn’t help my outlook.
“I even had to leave university, just one month into the
course, and take long-term sick leave from my waitressing job.
I was ready to try anything that could offer a glimmer of hope”.
Literally ‘hobbling’ up the path for her treatment,
Claire attended four sessions with Gauldry-based George Mackenzie
over a month/six week period late last year.
Shortly after just one session, Claire started driving again,
something she had been unable to do for months. As she arrived
for her second session, she was walking and no longer limping
and, with the sessions now complete, Claire is ‘completely
pain-free’ and back to her original self.
Claire returned to work just before Christmas and has her next
hospital check-up in April. As is often the case with bio-energy
therapy, her emotional state has also improved significantly
